Meet Tastemaker Nicole: Global Traveler, Foodie, Photographer, Blogger, and YouTuber

Name: Nicole Renard
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Interests: Traveling, Photography, Cooking, Acting, Hosting, Motivational Speaking, Dance, Disney, anything creative!

Growing up only a few hours from Seattle in Kennewick, Washington, Nicole has always had an appreciation for good food and good views. Her love for such things and passion for sharing them has spurred her many talents like photography, baking, blogging, and vlogging. As a food & travel blogger, she’s always up for an adventure. She’s already been to New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Israel and the list goes on. Her ultimate dream is to host a cooking and travel show, where she will feed people around the world.

With more than forty thousand followers on Instagram @nicole_thenomad, she shares recipes, travel tips, daily motivation and her many adventures. She hopes to inspire others to act on their bucket list and has coined the hashtag #DoStuff.

“#DoStuff was born out of the desire to be the type of person who says they’re going to do something and then actually does it. I was spending way too much time making a list of all the things I wanted to do and one of my biggest pet peeves is when people talk about doing awesome things, but then never do them. The #DoStuff movement was designed to encourage people to stand by their word and follow through with the things they say they are going to do, and also just motivation to get out and do something!”

Nicole has done many things, and she doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. She was crowned Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen in

2011 and was named the Distinguished Young Woman of America in 2013. She studied television and broadcast journalism and advertising at Chapman University. Her love of baking landed her a job as a pastry chef in a commercial kitchen during all fours of college.

“I wasn’t looking for a job, but after I got into a conversation with the executive chef, he hired me on the spot.”

After graduating college, she was crowned Miss Washington 2017 and competed in the Miss America Competition. She now lives in Los Angeles, where she is pursuing acting, hosting, and motivational speaking, all while working as a blogger and full time portrait and travel photographer.

She was recently in Cancun, Mexico photographing a wedding and is now visiting home in Washington. In the next three months, she’ll be in Ohio, Seattle, Houston, Orlando, Dallas, back to Seattle and then Korea.

We asked Nicole to share a few of her favorite places to travel and eat, and best-kept travel tips.

Tips for traveling light, but still looking cute?

“Pack things that are versatile! Try only bringing a few pairs of pants and one or two pairs of shoes that can be worn with multiple outfits! Wear your heaviest/bulkiest items on the plane so they don’t take up too much room in your suitcase. Utilize your two carry-ons!”
